Rahul Gandhi: Youth Congress to bring forward potential future leaders
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi believes that various frontal organization of the Congress Party like NSUI and Youth Congress are meant for various different activities requiring different qualifications. He has stressed the need for an upper age limit in party’s youth organisations. He said people above 35 years of age would not be office-bearers of Youth Congress and NSUI. He further said doors were open for the youth to enter Youth Congress and NSUI which was once closed for them. “We have a clear vision for the future. In Tamil Nadu, around 6,000 youths have joined our organisation and they are the future leaders of the Congress,” Gandhi remarked. Recently he said grand Congress Party is just like a bouquet in which flowers like NSUI, Youth Congress and Congress Sewa Dal are beautifully bedecked. Rahul Gandhi : Aadhar UID card will benefit poor
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to Amethi on 20th October, 2011, inaugurated a branch of Corporation bank in Amethi. In a function organized at Ramlila Maidan Rahul Gandhi said that unless the poor people including dalits, adivasis and farmers are not ensured the facility of banking, our country would not progress. “Now there are a lot of facilities in the banks like mobile banking. And many dalits and poor people are staying in villages. Unless these people are connected with the banks we cannot achieve development” said Rahul Gandhi. He expressed his happiness to know that the people who cannot sign could use the thumb impression and avail banking services.
He also hinted that some of the state Governments are not using the Central funds effectively. “Centre has been sending huge amounts under various schemes like MGNREGA and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan to the states but these funds are not reaching the poor in the required manner” said Rahul Gandhi. We have been trying to change this, he added. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also mentioned about the Aadhar UID card scheme. “Every citizen of this country will have an identity card as a proof of their existence by the Aadhar scheme. Further the card will include the Bank account number along with the Aadhar Card Number so as to ensure connectivity and transparency and with this the Central funds will directly reach the account holder.” said Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi also recalled the statement of Rajiv Gandhi that when centre sanctions one rupee for the poor only 15 paisa reaches them. He also expressed hope that the new card will help to remove the issues related to BPL card distribution.
Rahul Gandhi also asserted that UPA Government is committed to serve the poor. Only with this intention we made policies like MGNREGA and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. We are in the process of drafting a Food Security Bill too, quipped Rahul Gandhi. He concluded his speech by thanking all the people assembled and also expressed his gratitude to Corporation Bank officials for their support and cooperation.

Rahul Gandhi takes dinner at a tribal’s house during his visit to Bundelkhand
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi , true to his style of function, visited a tribal village Medki, Mauranipur near Jhansi, without any preplanned schedule. Rahul Gandhi knocked at the door of Kunjhilal, a villager, and the family could not believe their eyes when they saw Rahul Gandhi. They were further shocked when Rahul Gandhi expressed his desire to have dinner at their house. The poor family which consists of ten members including Kunjilal's two sons and two daughters-in-law happily served him puri and sabzi. Rahul stayed in the house for nearly half an hour. He then held a village 'chaupal' and heard the grievances of the local villagers. He was on a tour to Bundelkhand to motivate Youth Congress workers.
During interaction Rahul Gandhi took feedback on MGNREGA and also enquired whether they get proper benefit of the scheme. He also asked whether they get the timely payment under MGNREGA. Rahul Gandhi said that UPA Government at the centre sanctions funds under various schemes for the welfare of the people and if the money is not reaching to the people, it is the weakness of the state Government. Late in the night, Rahul Gandhi slept at the local primary school building.
Earlier in the day, to feel the pulse of youths in the economically backward region of Bundelkhand during a camp organised by the Youth Congress in Jhansi, Rahul Gandhi had a detailed interaction for around two and a half hours with the youths on various important issues during Yuva Drishti training camp of the youth wing.
During the interaction he asked the YC cadres to work at the grass roots level, spread awareness among the masses about the government’s version of the Lokpal Bill and Central welfare schemes. The Congress leader made an attempt to know the opinion of the youth on the relevance of Jan Lokpal Bill proposed by Anna Hazare, and also on issues like truth, ahimsa and Satyagraha.
Rahul Gandhi spoke with the youth on the position of candidates in the forthcoming state Assembly elections. He advised the youth how to strengthen the party in the state and ways to progress through good politics while urging them to strengthen the organisation by realising their responsibilities.

Congress: Govt.’s stand on terrorism is being appreciated
Congress government is proud to state that Congress government, without in any manner, compromising India’s established stand on terrorism, on national security, has attempted to improve relations with Pakistan. The basic object of such initiatives has been to provide a healing touch to the issues of the sufferings of the ‘aam-aadmi’. It is the common man who when caught in the cross-fire of nations, is indeed a worst sufferer. Congress government is, therefore, happy to state that 89 fishermen from the lowest strata of society in the very recent past have been released. There are other cases like Gopal Das case, after several decades etc. and finally it is easy for the BJP and for some other sections to try and be populist or jingoistic. But for those who govern, who have a stake in the system, which have to find solutions, such initiatives and more importantly such human approaches are necessary for the general welfare of innocent members of the civil society. For Congress practical problems are more important than the static of the ego of sovereign disputes or sovereign rhetoric. Congress government, therefore, hopes that better sense will prevail in opposition quarters.

I am committed for Raebareli’s development: Sonia Gandhi
Congress: We believe in action while BJP in inaction against corruption
Congress has never shied away from taking strong action against those involved in corruption. Ongoing CBI investigations in corruption cases including those of A. Raja, Suresh Kalmadi confirm this that Congress party does not tolerate corruption in any form or at any level. High and mighty, big or small are all alike for the Congress party. Nor does Congress government interfere in the work of investigation. That is why Kalmadi’s residence was raided by the investigative agencies. On the other hand did anybody ever hear such action much less strong action on the part of BJP-led NDA government? It is because BJP believes in hiding, covering up the corruption and inaction in such like matters. There is a legal judicial criminal process going on. This process does, of course, show that the Congress party or the administration does not believe in interfering in the true march of the legal process.

Congress: BJP protected the corrupt Yeddyuruppa
Recently serious allegations came in the public domain about large scale concrete illegalities especially in the nature of bribery, corruption and nepotism in the state of Karnataka. The allegations were extremely serious. They needed to be immediately responded to and explained to this nation by the BJP under whose total protection, endorsement and support Yeddyurappa and his family were treating that state as their own personal fiefdom. The facts of the matter speak for themselves. Enormous sum of Rs. 27.18 crores had been donated to a Trust called Prerna Educational Trust. This Trust is controlled entirely by Yedduruppa and his sons and other family members. From a virtually non-existent monetarily body, it had received from at least 10 concerns Rs. 27 crores in few months. Some of these moneys had come obviously for nepotistic considerations quid-pro-quos involving the public servant Yeddyurappa, his children and his family.

Congress alleges BJP leadership created Cyberspace Infosys Ltd. scam
In August 2000 UTI under BJP-leld NDA government purchased 3.45 lac shares of a relatively unknown company "Cyberspace Infosys Ltd." at a huge price of Rs. 930 per share. BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee laid the foundation stone of a Software Technology Park, named as ‘Cybertron Technopolis’. Since the company had the blessings of the Prime Minister, the innocent public invested heavily in the company. The park was promoted by the same Johri brothers – affiliates of RSS. The RSS man who facilitated this was Pradeep Narayan Mathur, who is a trustee of Vishwa Samvad Kendra in Lucknow and a senior member of VHP. The Rajnath Singh government in UP collaborated in the venture by becoming a partner of the proposed IT park Cyberspace promoters. But in less than a year's time, the share price plummeted to just Re. 1. Later when Johri came under CBI scanner the Vajpayee remained silent on the entire episode. In his statement to CBI, ex-UTI chief claimed that among those who called him up regarding the purchase of Cygerspace shares were Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha’s Private Secretary Bharat Vyas. So much for probity of BJP party.

Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and The PM Dr Mahanmohan Singh attended Dussehra celebrations at the famous Subhash maidan. In a symbolic gesture, Leaders took up bow and arrow in their hands and marked the beginning of the burning of effigies of Demon King Ravana, son Meghnath, and brother Kumbhakaran. Sonia Gandhi also attended Dussehra celebrations at the Subhash Maidan near Red Fort. At Delhi’s popular Ramlila Maidan and Subash Maidan tens of thousands of people converged on this occasion to witness one of the biggest commemorations of Dussehra. The Congress president had earlier greeted the people on Dussehra and wished that the festival brings peace, prosperity and progress throughout the country. Towering effigies of demon king Ravana along with his son Meghnad and brother Kumbhkaran were consigned to flames among splendid fireworks as people celebrated Dussehra across the city symbolising the triumph of good over evil. Dussehra coincided with the immersion of Durga idols in the Yamuna river, marking the end of the puja festival.
Dussehra also marked the beginning of a 20-day period that will culminate with Diwali, the festival of lights. Standing atop trucks, devotees and enthusiasts dressed as Ram, Ravana and their followers recreated the mythological war between Hindu god and the demon king depicted in the epic Ramayana.
Dussehra was celebrated with deep fervour and enthusiasm in different parts of Delhi and in other parts of the country on Sunday.

Congress successfully tackling urban poverty
For Congress removal of poverty is crucial. It has been made one of the primary objectives of planning in India under the Congress governments. Several policy and programme initiatives aimed at reducing incidence of poverty have been taken over the years. The urban poverty issue has been given increasing attention. Elimination of poverty is being treated as thrust area. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of National Advisory Council, particularly took notice that overall results of economic development and growth were not trickling down to the lower income strata. Accordingly, Congress government is giving considerable emphasis on the need to improve the living conditions of slum dwellers. It has further taken note that in order to be effective, the problem of urban poverty would require a major thrust towards employment generation and creation of productive jobs. In line with this major thrust the Congress government strategy now includes provision for gainful employment to the unemployed, particularly women and youth, raising earnings of those in low paid jobs. Two specific programmes have been launched: the urban basic service programme, and the self-employment programme for the urban poor.

Congress: Overseas right-wing Hindu elements are financing BJP-RSS
People of India very well know that it is not Hindus who are communal, it is the Sangh Parivar which has been polarizing the people sometimes in the name of Hindu renaissance and at other times in the garb of national cultural awakening and at yet another times in the name of national honour. It was long suspected that affluent Hindus who live outside India were more sentimental about religion because they have the economic comfort zone. Dark rumors about the monetary and moral support to BJP-RSS have been in circulation. L.K. Advani has been promising the NRIs a real Hindu government would fulfill their dreams. VHP’s international general secretary Praveen Togadia has been saying that the Ram Temple must be built because "overseas Hindus" expected it. Thus it is clear Sangh Parivar of which BJP and RSS are integral parts is getting financial help from overseas right-wing Hindus. But who is sending what and to whom is a underhand activity. There cannot be hard evidence of activity. However, the seriousness of the situation has led to calls in the British House of Lords for a ban on the VHP as a "terrorist organisation".

NDA Govt. sold Centaur Hotel to favor RSS associate: Congress
During BJP-led NDA government became notorious for scandals and scams. It had no agenda for public good. Instead it got in the business of selling out the national assets to favor private parties. The CAG in its report-2004 has expressed serious doubts on the methods used by the NDA government for computing the valuation of the underlying assets in the matter of dis-investment of Centaur Hotel. CAG stated that the Government had suffered a loss of rupees 145.69 crores in revenue in the sale of Centaur Hotel. In June 2002, the 288-room Centaur Hotel near Mumbai’s domestic airport was sold by the Hotel Corporation of India to Batra Hospitality, for Rs 83 crore. Within four months, Batra Hospitality sold off the hotel property to the Sahara group for Rs 115 crore, raking in a 35% profit. Batra Hospitality has been promoted by Amrit Lal Batra, an industrialist who is close to the RSS. The bidding process of the hotel was allegedly rigged in favour of A. L. Batra. It is to be noted that before the second round of bidding commenced, a couple of important clauses of the sale agreement were changed to suit Batra Hospitality.
