Targeting Mayawati’s BSP and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP for rampant corruption and scams in their tenures as chief ministers, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these leaders are now again misleading public with empty poll promises. During the past five years, neither Mayawati nor Mulayam visited any village but now during the election time, they were making lofty promises, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting at Jaunpur on February 12 for the ongoing Assembly elections. The people gave these leaders too long a time to deliver on their promises but they failed each time, he further said. Referring to Rs 8,000 crore package for the Bundelkhand he said the tractors meant to farmers did not reach them but were taken away by BSP elephant in Lucknow. Highlighting unemployment in the state Rahul Gandhi said he stands with the youth to work for progress and development. He added “I will continue to fight for the cause of poor farmers and labourers till their migration to other states ceases.” He repeated his promise to change the state in five years time if his party was voted to power in UP. Urging the people this time to vote for Congress (I), Rahul Gandhi assured that his party will provide corruption-free government and bring development in the state in five years time which these parties failed to bring even in 22 years.
