Blaming parties like BSP, SP and BJP for making beeline of promises to the people every time on the occasion of elections without ever caring to fulfill them, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that change in UP cannot come through mere promises. Rahul Gandhi was addressing a public rally in Uttar Pradesh as part of his campaign for the ongoing assembly polls in the state.
Whenever he raises public issues, Chief Minister Mayawati calls it drama, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Hardoi. Blaming both Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav for neglecting the plight of Bundelkhand, Rahul Gandhi said even though it was state government responsibility, Congress (I)-led UPA government made available Rs 8,000 crore special package for drought hit Bundelkhand region. But Mayawati government instead of spending the money for welfare and development of the region misused it.
Stressing that Congress is a party of the people Rahul Gandhi said his party is working for the people who have been neglected by parties like BSP, SP and BJP. Referring to welfare and development schemes like MNREGA, JNURM, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Janani Sauraksha Yojna etc, he said, “We have already shown by our work what we can do.” Assuring the people that Congress (I) will transform UP,
Rahul Gandhi requested the people "Give us five years. With your support, we will work for a better future."
