21st May 1991, Sri Perumbudur was rocked by a blast. Suicide attacker had succeeded in their evil motives. Rajiv Gandhi’s concept of modernisation was not just modernization of industry but more fundamentally modernisation of minds and attitudes. He wanted the scientists and technologists to work and solve the problems relating to water-management and improved sanitation so that the people particularly in the rural areas get a better quality of life.
