Rahul Gandhi airs his concern over misuse of NREGA funds by Mayawati

Accusing Mayawati of for alarming unemployment in the state, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that Mayawati government has been misusing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act Scheme (MNREGA) funds.  This scheme is a flagship program of Congress (I)-led UPA government at the Centre, he said.  Rahul Gandhi asserted that it is a poverty alleviation program meant to generate guaranteed minimum 100 days employment for rural people including artisans, landless laborers and women. Rahul Gandhi also said it puts money directly in the pocket of poor. Each so employed person gets 100 days of employment at the rate of Rs. 120/- per day which works out to Rs 12,000 for a year. But the money is not reaching the poor; it was pocketed by ministers of Mayawati, alleged the Congress General Secretary. Leftover money was spent by government on items like buying toys, tents, calendars, laptops and paying transportation charges, he said. This demonstrates that Mayawati government is not interested in the welfare of the poor people, said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi has been spearheading the Congress campaign in the poll bound Uttar Pradesh where the assembly elections will be held in February 2012.

Rahul Gandhi: Congress (I) to provide responsive govt. in UP

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who has been campaigning intensively in the poll bound Uttar Pradesh is successful to ensure an upsurge for the party. During his public speech he sought support for the Congress as the 22 years non-Congress misrule ruined the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has given assurance that Congress (I) will provide responsive government in Uttar Pradesh.  It will be receptive and will attend to the issues of the people, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings in UP for the upcoming Assembly elections in February 2012. He highlighted that BJP, BSP and SP have been asking for people’s vote on the promise of what ‘they will do’ but their promises being only fake they did not fulfill any of them over the last two decades.  On the contrary Congress (I)-led UPA government always having connect with the people have brought number of welfare schemes/programs for the poor  like MNREGA, NRHM, Janani Sauraksha Yojana, Sarva Shiksha Abhyan and Mid Day Meals. These programs have enormously benefited the people.   Further, Congress (I) brought RTI and RTE to empower the people. Thus, “Our credentials prove that Congress (I) alone can provide responsive government in UP”, said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi: Aam admi wants Congress (I) Government in UP

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who has been spearheading the Congress campaign in the poll bound Uttar Pradesh held Mayawati responsible for all the troubles the people of UP have gone through under her corrupt government, Rahul Gandhi has said that aam admi cutting across caste and community line has started looking towards Congress (I) for providing stable and progressive government in the state.
