Sonia Gandhi promises a developed Uttarakhand under Congress


Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said in Uttarakhand that the BJP had been befooling the people in the name of development. Sonia Gandhi expressed her concern over the loot of the natural treasures of Uttarakhand and said that the only way to prevent such misdeeds is to install a Congress Government in the state.
Sonia Gandhi said that Congress realizes the pain and problems of the people in the hill state. “We do understand your problems and we have assured to find solutions for those in our election manifesto”. Listing out the promises Sonia Gandhi said “We (Congress) intend to cancel the license policy to help the sugar cane farmers, we want to constitute an Urdu Farsi Board for helping the minorities, to provide computer education for the students in Madrasas at Government’s cost and to provide them free training at IITs and Government polytechnics. Congress also wishes to grant state level recognition to the mela held in Haridwar, Hemkunt”, said Sonia Gandhi.
“We (Congress) are committed to work for all sections of the society. I therefore request you to support the Congress”, urged Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi: Central funds sent to UP were swindled out in corruption and scams


Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed a big election rally in Moradabad, known for its famous brass industry – which is also called "Brass City" or Peetal Nagri.
Referring various welfare scheme of the Congress led UPA Government Sonia Gandhi continued, “Despite all the problems, UPA Government has done a number of welfare schemes and policies for the people. We implemented Mahatma Gandhi NREGA policy to address the issue of unemployment in the villages by which every poor is guaranteed for a minimum of 100 days’ job every year. The UPA framed policies like Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission to ensure house, water and roads, National Rural Health Mission to provide adequate health facilities for the poor, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan to ensure that every children in the age group of 6 to 14 get proper education, Mid-day meal scheme to ensure food to every children in the schools, Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojana, opened up new Universities and implemented Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme to provide electricity at every place”.
She said that the Centre made a number of schemes for the development of U.P and sent thousands of crores of rupees to the state under various schemes. “The Government at the Centre sent more than one lakh crore rupees to Uttar Pradesh.  But it is a matter of great concern that the people of Uttar Pradesh could not avail the benefits. All these funds were swindled out in corruption and scams. There are reports of corruption in MNREGA and NRHM schemes,” she concerned.

Sonia Gandhi: Mayawati Govt. indulges in scams and corruption


Scams and corruption have denied people in Uttar Pradesh of the benefits of Central schemes and funds, said Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi while speaking at an election rally in Aligarh.
In her 20-minute-long speech at the Exhibition Ground in Aligarh, Sonia Gandhi said that the central government was giving huge amounts for development under various schemes, but due to looters and scamsters, people had not benefitted.
Sonia Gandhi said that fertilizers had been provided for farmers by the central ministry but it was not reaching the people. She said Aligarh was a historical city which mirrored our composite culture. The Congress was committed to promoting this ‘tahzeeb’.
"We believe in taking all sections of society along the path of development but the backwards need special support therefore we (Congress) have made new schemes for the poor and the underprivileged sections. Villages and rural areas are important for development of the country," said Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress President assured that the Aligarh lock industry workers that their interests would be taken care of and problems sorted out. Sonia Gandhi urged the people to support Congress and help it to form the next  Government in Uttar Pradesh.
Sonia Gandhi attended the meeting along with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Ajit Singh.
