Congress lists out its policies for the soldiers/pensioners
While
slamming non-Congress parties like BSP, SP and BJP in UP for doing nothing for
the soldiers and the ex-servicemen, Congress (I) has said that the Congress-led UPA government at the
Centre had increased the salaries of serving soldiers and pensions of
Ex-Servicemen as per the recommendations of Sixth Pay Commission.
Large
number of people from UP serve in Armed forces, said the Congress. Congress (I)
President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has stressed that no other
Government had done so much for the welfare of serving soldiers and Ex-Servicemen
as Congress (I) has done. The standard of living of both serving soldiers and
Ex-Servicemen has risen very substantially after the Congress-led UPA government
came to power, claimed Congress (I). As
a result of steep pay hike of soldiers, their pension has also taken a big jump,
added Congress. The party will continue its endeavor to do lot more for the
servicemen and Ex-Servicemen of our country, said Congress (I).

Mayawati wants to divide, not unite: Congress (I)
Congress accused BSP chief Mayawati of worst administration in the state and also alleged that she has queer knack for breaking things apart rather than putting them together. Congress was reacting consciously about the proposal for splitting the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Mayawati has proposed to split Uttar Pradesh to four. Congress slammed Mayawati saying that there is no proper administrative smoothness in the existing system as of now. There are 75 districts in UP. No courts or collectorates have been set up; no office of a district magistrate (DM) or superintendent of police (SP) has come up in the newly creating districts. For example, Kushinagar, created in 1994, lacks even a post-mortem house, so bodies are carried to other districts for autopsy, creating havoc for the police and kin of the dead. Mayawati latest funda is splitting UP into four states. Congress (I) has said this confirms Mayawati is not interested in issues which aam admi is facing in his daily life; as a digression she has only been engaged in breaking districts and finally the UP state itself.

Congress alleges MNREGA scam even in drought-hit Bundelkhand
Blaming UP Chief Minister for corruption in implementation of welfare scheme for providing employment to the poor, Congress (I) has said Mayawati indulged in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scam even in drought hit Bundelkhand. People are dying of hunger and unemployment there but Mayawati does not give employment to the poor despite availability of funds under that scheme, said Congress (I). So much so MNREGA money was spent on purchase of calendars and toys but not a single day’s employment was made available to poor people in some areas for the last four years. In many places poor people have not been issued BPL cards. In other places Job Cards have not been given to the poor. Congress (I) has said this way needy poor have been deprived of the benefit of the welfare scheme. In the name of high breed seeds contaminated and rotten seeds were given to the farmers, Congress (I) said further.
