Rahul Gandhi visits quake-hit Sikkim to meet victims

AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi visited quake-hit Sikkim to meet victims and to take stock of rescue and relief efforts. Mr Gandhi arrived at Gangtok at around 10:30 am. Rahul Gandhi’s visit is to meet workers and officials to get a first-hand account of the extent of damage in Sunday's earthquake in which more than 80 people have been killed. He was scheduled to visit Meghalaya too, as part of his efforts to boost Youth Congress membership in the state.
Rahul Gandhi made an aerial survey of quake-hit north Sikkim, besides visiting an affected village and a hospital. Accompanied by Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, the Congress general secretary made the survey of the north district which had suffered the maximum number of casualties. Gandhi also visited the Central Referral Hospital, Manipal and interacted with the injured.
