Congress (I) only alternative for UP: Rahul Gandhi

Attacking BSP, SP and BJP for pushing the state backward by their misrule over the last 22 years, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said Congress (I) Party’s development oriented approach is only alternative for the present bad situation of UP.  These parties have wasted 22 years time of the people and looted the resources the state, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections.  BJP government came and left.  Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi only talked about caste politics which benefited only 10% of the people. Mayawati government let loose the reign of corruption and extortions to make money.  But for the issues of the people and development of the state none of these parties bothered. Highlighting that the only way to end this vicious cycle of caste politics and corruption is to bring responsible and development oriented government, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to vote for his party. He assured that Congress (I) will provide corruption-free, transparent and responsive government and put the state on fast track development.

Rahul Gandhi says: Mayawati doesn’t protect women’s interests

Holding Mayawati responsible for the plight of women in the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has blamed her for failing to protect the interests of poor women. Congress (I)-led UPA government at the centre has sent a number of social welfare and medicare schemes for women, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections.  Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is one such scheme under National Rural Health Mission. The scheme is meant to encourage institutional delivery of pregnant women for which Rs 1400 in cash are given to each woman as incentive. But even in this scheme there is scam of Rs 28 crore. To loot money women were shown to have delivered twice in five months. But on scrutiny it was found second delivery was bogus. Highlighting that Mayawati was only interested in money making than in the welfare matters Rahul Gandhi said it is a time to get rid of her rule. He appealed the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that his party would ensure welfare of the women and work for their empowerment.

What did Mulayam give for Muslims, asks Rahul Gandhi

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing a massive election rally in Pilibhit as part of his Congress campaign questioned Samajwadi President Mulayam Singh for his pro-Muslim stance.
Rahul Gandhi said, “Mulayam Singh Ji calls himself a leader of the Muslims. Did Mulayam Singh Ji do anything for them in the past 22 years? No one was benefitted. They were not included in the process of development under his regime. But now during elections he showers promises. He was Chief Minister thrice but did nothing for the Muslims. Ahead of the last general elections he embraced Kalyan Singh for narrow political gains.”
Rahul Gandhi added, “Congress implemented Sachar Commission’s recommendations. When we sent the money for scholarship to Uttar Pradesh, that vanished in Lucknow. The funds reach Kerala and Tamil Nadu but the same did not reach the people in UP.”
“When media persons had asked Mulayam Ji about his stand on reservation, he did not utter any word. But when Manmohan Singh Ji went ahead with reservation, he complained that it was inadequate. He was the Chief Minister in UP thrice. Why did not he do anything then? When Rasheed Masood Ji talked about reservation he was expelled from SP,” said the Congress leader, questioning the double speak of SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on the issue of Muslim reservation.

Corruption hallmark of Mayawati’s govt: Congress (I)

Accusing Mayawati of cheating the people of Uttar Pradesh during 2004 elections in the name of providing Brashtachar mukt Pradesh, Congress (I) has said corruption and crime have since then been twin features of the BSP misrule in the state.  All along Mayawati’s rule the state was been rocked by crimes. Corruption has been skyrocketing instead of coming down, said Congress (I).

Over two dozen BSP MPs, MLAs and ministers have been booked for criminal activities.  A few months back, two state government ministers hailing from Aligarh were accused of kidnapping and murder but were later given clean chit by the police. Purushottam Naresh, BSP MLA from Banda, is already in jail for allegedly raping a dalit girl.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi during his recent campaign for upcoming UP Assembly elections promised to put an end to this bad situation if Congress (I) is given change to form the government in UP.
