It is six months since Bhatta-Parsaul incident took place in which four people died on account of unprovoked firing by UP police on innocent farmers. Congress (I) said the poor farmers were sitting on dharna for months together against payment of unfair price for their agricultural land forcibly acquired by Mayawati government for ‘public purpose’. To teach the farmers lesson for rising in protest against her government Mayawati government ordered firing on the poor farmers. Police destroyed property of the farmers and raped their women. Congress (I) General Secretary came forward to secure justice to the farmers. But Mayawati did not care. No complaint was allowed to be registered against policemen for raping the women. After almost six months of inaction over the alleged rapes in Bhatta and Parsaul villages, the Uttar Pradesh government finally ordered filing of FIR against security personnel accused in the case but only after SC/ST commission threatened to initiate criminal proceedings against defaulting police officers. These circumstances confirm that Mayawati has completely destroyed impartiality of public services in the state, said Congress (I).
