National Education Day: Sonia Gandhi meets children

No sooner had Sonia Gandhi, the Congress chief, missed her first comeback political rally on Wednesday in Chamoli, Uttarakhand because of high fever that there were speculations about Mrs. Gandhi’s health.

The Congress president had gone under surgery in the United States. Since then, political corners are abuzz with rumors about Mrs. Gandhi’s health and her involvement in active politics.

But, Sonia Gandhi’s innings is yet not over. On the occasion of National Education Day, Mrs. Gandhi interacted with school children from different states across the country and spent over 15 minutes with the children.

However, reports coming in, state that Rahul Gandhi could soon be appointed as Congress party’s working president because of Mrs. Gandhi’s inconsistent health. Apart from this, his involvement and importance in the party affairs has increased substantially.

Political analysts say the significance of meeting with the children was to dilute the rumors about how seriously ill Sonia Gandhi is. How she takes herself in Indian politics from here onwards is a political aficionado’s delight.
