Recently while in Lucknow in connection with UPCC meeting Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi visited Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, a Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow city. Rahul Gandhi is leaving no stone unturned in giving a tough fight to the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the forthcoming state assembly elections. While Mayawati has all along been talking about welfare of Muslim minority community she has not done anything substantial for them. In the name of giving representation to Muslims, she inducted only leaders of criminal background who have nothing to do with welfare of Muslim community. Congress (I) on the other hand is engaged in implementing recommendations of Sachhar Committee for social economic development of Muslim community. Besides, Rahul Gandhi has focused equally on Muslims for whom Congress (I) has always been working. Reservation for backward Muslims has been agreed upon and only legal formalities and constitutional amendment is awaited. Rahul Gandhi has assured Muslim community that Congress (I) will always stand with them.
