Hitting hard on caste-based political formations in Uttar Pradesh, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that as long as reign of parties like the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) lasts, the “sharing of spoils” would continue in Uttar Pradesh. Congress (I) leader said, “Caste-based political parties are hindering growth and development of UP; Congress (I) is the only party which, with an inclusive agenda, can serve the interests of all sections of society irrespective of caste and creed. Now, the people of UP are seeking a change and only the Congress can change the destiny of the state in next decade.” He pointed out that under the present political dispensation in UP, the poor were being denied employment and farmers being forcibly dispossessed of their land. When farmers ask for compensation, they get police bullets and are branded as Naxals by the state government, said Rahul Gandhi.
