All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary RahulGandhi while addressing a public rally at Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh reiterated that his fight is not to acquire any post or position but to take the voice of the people to the concerned. He was speaking to a huge crowd as part of his campaign for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
Referring 2004 General elections Rahul Gandhi said, “During 2004 Parliament Elections, I was not active. I was contesting from Amethi. I was observing politics from a distance. While Congress had only promised a government of aam aadmi that works for poor, farmers, minorities, dalits Hindu, Sikh, Muslims, Christians and adivasis, the opposition BJP framed a slogan ‘India Shining’.
The Congress leader continued, “I, while visiting various villages in the villages of Amethi, was thinking why they have brought out such a slogan in English. There was no proper electricity and sufficient water in the houses of poor people and I was wondering how they can coin such a slogan. I was thinking whether these people actually go out to know the reality. Media had also written off Congress and had predicted only about 80 seats out of 540 for Congress. But the people of this country gave mandate to Congress”.
