Accusing Mayawati government of indulging in scams after scams to fulfill her greed for money, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that she owes an explanation to the people of the state for that. After all what she was spending, rather squandering, was a public money for which Mayawati must explain to the people, he said while addressing a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh. State owned sugar mills were sold out to private parties by adopting underhand deals. Toll tax system of the state was given to single operator thus creating a monopoly instead of auctioning on point to point basis. Farmers’ lands were forcibly acquired for public purpose, said Rahul Gandhi adding that later land use was changed from public to private and those lands were sold to corporate builders. Urging the people to vote out the corrupt Mayawati government, Rahul Gandhi promised that Congress (I) will provide good governance to the people of Uttar Pradesh.
