Congress attacked the BJP for its dubious stand on the Lokpal. The people now know that the real villain for scuttling Lokpal Bill is BJP alleged the Congress.  It was crying for time bound enactment, said Congress. Lokpal Bill was drafted in consultation with Anna Hazare’s Team.  A consensus was worked out on as many points as it could be reached. Even BJP, which was party to proceedings of parliamentary standing committee, agreed with proposed Lokpal Bill, said a Congress release. But when the Bill came up before Parliament BJP did oppose the the bill said the Congress release. This Bill has a provision for Lokpal for central government and Lokayuktas for the states.  This provision would have exposed the corruption in BJP ruled states. BJP opposed the provision to shield its Chief Ministers against graft, said Congress (I).

During his campaigns Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also had highlighted that the erstwhile BJP-led NDA government at the center was full of corruption with number of scams and scandals. The states ruled by it like Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh are the most corrupt added Rahul Gandhi.  Urging the people not to trust BJP any more, Rahul Gandhi appealed them to give a chance to Congress (I) to form government.  The Congress leader promised that Congress (I) would ensure good governance to the people.
