Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a huge public rally in Ambedkar Nagar as part of his Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh slammed SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for his double-stance on minority welfare.
“SP talks a lot about the welfare of the minorities. But when Rasheed Masood raised this issue of reservation for minorities he was shown the door” said Rahul Gandhi referring the expelled former SP leader Rasheed Masood who joined Congress.
Referring the weavers’ issue, Rahul Gandhi said “The weavers in U.P had approached me. They pleaded for assistance as they face a lot of difficulties. They also told that they had approached both SP and BSP but no one helped them”. “They also shared that they are not able to secure loan from anywhere. We took them to the Prime Minister and the Congress led central government sanctioned a relief package for the Bunkars. Congress led central government introduced a Bunkar credit card and also helped them to get loan up to two lac rupees” informed the Congress leader.
Rahul Gandhi continued, “Congress had not made any promise to the Bunkars during elections. But when they came to us and conveyed their difficulties, we (Congress) helped them. We will do whatever we can do for all sections of the society”. “Where was Mayawati Ji or Mulayam Ji when poor Bunkars were crying for help? Rahul Gandhi asked.”
Rahul Gandhi promised that the state of Uttar Pradesh will develop if the people opt for a Congress Government in the state.
