Hitting out against the non-Congress parties like BSP and SP for their misrule without caring the issues of the people and development of the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that these non-Congress parties have been duping the people over the last 22 years. “These non-Congress parties have been serving their own interests rather than attending to the issues of the people”, Rahul Gandhi had said while campaigning in the state recently. “The people have wasted 22 years waiting for these non-Congress parties to fulfill their promises, further said the Congress leader. Pointing out that these leaders are now again making big promises, Rahul Gandhi asked why they had not done anything for the poor and aam aadmi when they were in power. “Mayawati has been CM for four terms while Mulayam Singh Yadav has been CM for three times. But both did nothing for the people” concerned the Congress General Secretary. “Only Congress (I) has been sincerely working for the cause of the people even though the party does not have its government in UP. Congress (I)-led UPA government has brought MNREGA scheme for providing employment opportunities to the poor, JNURM for civic amenities to the urban poor,” said Rahul Gandhi and added that recently introduced the Food Security Bill will ensure that no poor remains hungry in the country. Rahul Gandhi requested the people this time to support Congress (I) and assured that it will fulfill their aspirations by bring more and more welfare and development schemes. Congress (I) will do in five years what these parties failed to do in the past 22 years, he added.
