Sonia Gandhi lays the foundation stone for Lucknow-Rae Bareli four-lane project


Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi during her two-day visit to Rae Bareli laid the foundation stone for the project of widening and strengthening two national highway projects worth Rs1,800 crore, besides some other projects. The Lucknow-Rae Bareli road is to be converted into four lanes at a cost of Rs600 crore.
“The UPA government has given approval for national highway projects worth Rs1,800 crore,” informed Sonia Gandhi in her address after laying the foundation stone adding  “Today is an important day for UP”.
“It is my request to road transport and highways minister CP Joshi that all these projects should be completed at the earliest and in a time-bound manner with quality so that people could benefit during the Kumbh to be organised in Allahabad next year,” urged Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress P from Raebareli said that keeping in view future needs, efforts should also be made for constructing a ring road. Sonia Gandhi said that various schemes related to infrastructure had also been started in various districts of the state. “It would create employment opportunities for youth and people would get a better life,” hoped the Congress President.
“Work on the rail coach factory in Rae Bareli is being expedited and efforts will be made to bring more new programmes here. I would like to assure the people that I will continue to work and struggle for the development of Rae Bareli,” further said Sonia Gandhi.
