Sonia Gandhi does not believe in false claims on development

For Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, development means welfare of the poor. She does not believe in false claims on development and she is a very realistic leader. If the poor and underprivileged sections of the society are not getting the benefits and they are not able to be a part of the path of progress, we cannot claim development, she always believed.
Because of this Sonia Gandhi had slammed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP government for the ‘false’ development claims and accused the BJP of completely ignoring the welfare of poor. Sonia Gandhi also asked where all the central funds for the state had disappeared.
While addressing a Congress rally Sonia Gandhi said that the state government has failed in almost every field and even the law and order in the state was not good. "Congress-led UPA government at the centre has been allocating thousands of crores of rupees to various states, including Gujarat, without any discrimination. But nobody knows how this money is spent in Gujarat. They are not bothered about the poor. They are only concerned about themselves," argued the Congress President.
She said because of the policies of BJP government, the hardships of the common man have increased. "If the government had given attention to your problems, you would not have faced so many problems," Sonia Gandhi Gandhi said.
The Congress chief said the UPA government had waived off loans to the debt-ridden farmers but their condition in Gujarat has not changed because of the "anti-people" policies of the state BJP government.
"Our government is the government of the farmers. We have waived off loans to farmers," said Sonia Gandhi referring the Congress-led UPA central government.
