Blaming Mayawati government for changing toll tax policy, Congress (I) has said this has caused loss of thousands of crores to the state. The state has been collecting toll tax on bridges and state highways as this generates needed revenue for the state, said Congress (I). So far this was being done by auctioning the work to individual contractors on the basis of auction of each toll tax point. But Mayawati government suddenly changed this policy. Now the entire toll tax system of the state has been auctioned as one. On the one hand this has caused huge loss of revenue to the state, on the other hand it has created monopoly in the system which future governments might find it difficult to break, said Congress (I). Mayawati’s scams are not only destroying the present system in the state but the future of the state as well, said Congress (I).
